2026 Hike for Saugeen Hospice

Posted: April 16, 2026

Step Up, Team Up, Let’s Build! Saugeen Hospice’s Annual Hike Returns Sunday, May 3, 2026 – Five Communities, One Mission

Get ready to lace up your shoes and make history! Saugeen Hospice is thrilled to invite everyone to Hike for Saugeen Hospice on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

This is no ordinary walk in the park. Fresh off the Board of Directors’ announcement to move forward with construction, this year’s theme - “Step Up, Team Up, Let’s Build!” - is a powerful rallying cry. Every pledge collected, every kilometer hiked, and every dollar raised will directly help turn the dream of a local hospice into a reality - bringing comfort, dignity, and compassionate end-of-life care closer at home.

“Step Up, Team Up, Let’s Build” isn’t just a slogan, it’s a call to action. Friends, families, schools, businesses, and community groups are challenged to come together, collect pledges, and show up in force. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or pushing a stroller, this is your chance to be part of something truly transformative.

Five vibrant Hike locations – One unforgettable day! Hikes will take place across five locations, each with its own unique flavour of fun, food, and community spirit:

  • Durham (1:00–3:00 p.m.) – Family-friendly fun at the Saugeen Valley Conservation Durham Campground Pavilion. Expect door prizes, face painting, kids’ crafts, a photo booth, live music by Larry Lesperance, and refreshments. The accessible, pet-friendly trail awaits!
  • Hanover (1:00–3:00 p.m.) – High-energy start at the Hanover P&H Centre with Town Crier Jenn Olivero, a Lift Fitness warm-up, free public swim (donations appreciated), yoga, a silent auction, and a Lions Club BBQ. Choose an indoor track or outdoor neighbourhood route.
  • Mildmay (11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.) – Scenic trail network starting at the Mildmay Carrick Community Centre, with stops at Rotary Park and Lions Park before finishing strong back at the Centre.
  • Paisley (1:00–3:00 p.m.) – Scenic riverside beauty at the Rotary Riverside Palace. Warm-up, fully accessible trail with stunning Saugeen River views, hotdog BBQ, children’s games, silent auction, and the big reveal of local funds raised.
  • Walkerton (1:00–3:00 p.m.) – Riverfront trail starting at the Walkerton Agricultural Society Building #2. Fully accessible for all ages and abilities (strollers, wheelchairs, scooters, leashed pets welcome). Photo booth, student artwork, trail snacks, and possible special guest appearances!
