Saugeen Hospice is celebrating another incredible year of community support following the success of the 2026 Hike for Saugeen Hospice.

Thanks to the generosity of volunteers, sponsors, hikers, donors, schools, and supporters, this year’s event has raised more than $127,000, and donations are still coming in. Most hike locations saw increased participation and fundraising compared to 2025.

In Durham, participation and awareness of the hike continued to grow. Live music, face painting, crafts, and the photo booth created a fun and welcoming atmosphere for families and supporters.

In Hanover, the event featured a Town Cry by Jenn Olivero, remarks from the Mayor of Hanover, a community neighbourhood walk, Hanover Lions Club BBQ, kids’ yoga, and a lively silent auction.

In Paisley hikers enjoyed a beautiful Saugeen River trail.  There were memorable community displays, including a stunning photo backdrop butterfly wall like no other, approximately 200 square feet of custom-coloured butterflies created by the students of Mary Immaculate School, Chesley and District Community School, and Paisley Central School.

In Mildmay along the trail, “Connie’s Crew,” made up of more than 20 family members, walked in memory of Connie Bohnert, making for a meaningful and inspiring day. Another wonderful milestone this year was having schools in South Bruce participate in their own unique way.   Whether it was a school hike, a “Hats for Hospice” day or a fun day, their involvement helps build a foundation of support that can sustain a project like this for years to come.

In Walkerton, an enthusiastic crowd gathered with more teams participating than ever before. The new location proved to be a wonderful enhancement to the event, welcoming participants of all ages - including plenty of furry friends. The scenic Walkerton River Trail provided a fantastic and accessible route for everyone to enjoy.

“Every dollar raised and every step taken helps move Saugeen Hospice forward,” said organizers. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, energy, creativity, and generosity to make this year’s Hike such an incredible success.”

The continued growth and enthusiasm surrounding the Hike for Saugeen Hospice reflects the deep compassion and commitment within local communities to support hospice care for families throughout the region.

Saugeen Hospice extends heartfelt thanks to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, donor, school, and committee member who helped make the 2026 Hike such a remarkable success.
