Board Votes to Proceed with Construction
The Board of Directors of Saugeen Hospice Inc. has voted to move forward with construction of the new hospice, marking a major milestone in our community's vision for compassionate end-of-life care, closer to home.
With close to $8 million already secured in donations and pledges, the Board is confident that, with continued community support, we will reach our $10 million goal to build this hospice residence. As is common in major capital campaigns, the construction planning phase will move forward now that a strong financial base of support is in place.
The Board's decision reflects months of careful review, and the extraordinary encouragement shown by donors, volunteers, and community partners. The need for local hospice residence beds is clear, and moving ahead now ensures the project remains on track to serve families as soon as possible.
Key project milestones include:
- Call for Pre-Qualification of General Contractors: Winter 2026
- Shovels in the Ground (Groundbreaking): Summer of 2026
- Opening to Families: Summer of 2028
"We are deeply grateful to every donor who has stepped forward," said Carol Kraft, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Your belief in this project has given us the confidence to take this important step. It is because of your encouragement that we are moving ahead."
The Board extends its sincere thanks to the community for its ongoing generosity, advocacy, and trust. Together, we are building a place of comfort, dignity, and peace for families across our region.
